Changing childhood from the heart and conscience

Did you know that at the Chiquitines Foundation we believe that the real changes in children take place in the heart, in the conscience and in the actions of the adults who care for them?
For this reason, we are working on a project called Weaving Care, to accompany 29 trainers and 47 grannies (volunteers who play the role of grandmothers) in group and individual spaces that invite them to weave networks of trust, to live new experiences and to reflect on issues related to childhood memories, the exploration of emotions and self-care.

Some of our caregivers' appreciations have been really touching and very meaningful for this process and we would like to share them with you:

  • "Many of our adult behaviors are related to our childhood, it is important to look for our inner child and learn that all our experiences mean a lot in our present and future."
  • "Our emotions are not bad, we have to learn to listen to them."
  • "If I recognize my emotions I can give that same recognition to the emotions of others, especially children. Also by listening to my peers I can see that I am not the only person who feels fears."

Sometimes the daily rush of life makes us forget that it is also important to take care of ourselves, our body, our mind and our emotions; and it is precisely this that allows us to consciously take care of others.

Our caregivers are now more aware, more present and increasingly connected to the needs of children.
